| Kelly Industries Bass Manager VST Plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro | |
This plug-in is designed for use in Adobe Premiere Pro ONLY. For more on the bass manager also see the VST version. Please note we are working on a simple method for calibrating your 5.1 surround system in PPro. It simulates the bass management systems found on most dolby digital and dts surround sound receivers. This allows surround sound engineers to hear what their 5.1 surround mix sounds like without having to burn a CDr or DVDr and then play it through a consumer 5.1 surround receiver. This plug-in is to be used for monitoring only. This means you turn off the plug-in when you render your main audio files. A Few Things To Keep In Mind About Bass Management Plug-in for Premiere:
To use the Bass Manager plug-in you'll need insert the plug-in on the
MASTER 5.1 output or a 5.1 SUBMIX channel. The plug-in's default settings
should work for most work but you need to check how your soundcard's
output are routed: The default setting is shown below. The plug-in allows you to select between two different speaker format output assignments: L, R, Ls, Rs, C, and SUB and L, R, C, LFE, Ls, and Rs. L, R, Ls, Rs, C, and SUBis Premiere's default but you may want to change to the more universal surround sound channel assignments of L, R, C, LFE, Ls, and Rs (see next picture).
L, R, C, LFE, Ls, and Rs is the suggested output settings for
monitoring in 5.1 surround sound. This means you must route the channel
outputs from your soundcard to you poweramp or powered studio monitors. After selecting your speaker format you'll need to calibrate your surround system. There will be a tutorial here made especially for Premiere users as well as for those that are using a consumer level 5.1 receiver for monitoring. The "X-Over Freq" knob is used to match your monitors to your subwoofer. For instance if your studio monitors only go down to 50 Hz or so (-3dB point) then turn the knob to 50 Hz. You should be able to find the frequency response of your monitors by looking in the documentation that came with them or by contacting the manufacturer. You should now be able to use the plug-in. Please be careful with the volume settings until you are sure they are correct. Keep the volume low and then start Adobe Premiere and slowly bring up the main volume. |
