Epiphone amps have been around since the early 1940's while their guitars since the early 1870s. This was the swing era and guitarist where just getting into the idea of amplifying their guitars. When Gibson purchased Epiphone in the late 1950's production was moved to Kalamazoo Michigan. One of the first amps made by Epiphone was the Electar. Many of their first amps where made by Nat Daniels who started Danelectro guitars.

The So Cal 50 is a 50 watt all tube guitar amp. This is a great amp that has a lot to offer especially for the price. It’s made in china but designed has been designed by Gibson Labs in California. This is a two channel amp that is switchable between 50 watts (pentode mode) and 25 watts (triode mode). The tube compliment consists of two EL-34 power tubes and five 12AX7 tubes used for EQ, preamp, phase-inverter, and the tube driven spring reverb.
