Ibanez Tube Screamer Series TSA15H Amp Head and TSA112C 1x12 Half Stack |
|
The Ibanez Tube Screamer Half Stack is a low cost guitar amp that consists of the low wattage all tube amp head (Ibanez TSA15H) and the single 12 inch speaker cabinet. The Stack is surely loud enough for practice with an excellent tone that’s great for recording. The most outstanding feature of this amp is the distinctive Tube Screamer Circuit found built in to the amp head. This in combination with the all tube circuitry gives the amp gives you all the crunch and overdrive you’ll ever need. The TSA15H Tube Screamer Head comes with two 12AX7 preamp tubes and two 6V6 power amp tubes. The amp also features two modes of operation, Pentode mode which outputs 15 watts and Triode Mode which outputs 5 watts. You can change modes via a switch located on the back of the amp. In Pentode mode gives a more aggressive and of course louder sound. You may be asking what the Pentode/Triode switch actually does. It sets how the power output tube will operate and the overall tone of the output section. The Pentode mode gives you more volume and gain and a more aggressive tone while the Triode mode gives you a rounder and warmer sound with plenty of even harmonics. All tubes have (4) basic elements: cathode, plate, grid, and filament. The filament is the thing that glows red and is also called the heater. Triode tubes have all four of these elements and are usually found in preamp tubes like the 12AX7. Pentode tubes on the other hand have two more elements that make up the tube: the screen grid and the suppressor grid. The screen and suppressor girds help elevate energy build up between the grid and the plate of the triode. It also gives the tube greater efficiency and power. In triode mode the Pentode’s screen and suppressor grids are turned off which accounts for the different sound and lower output. As for speaker outputs you can connect two speakers for a full stack (Two TSA112C speaker cabinets). The amp also comes with a passive two band EQ, Bass and Treble, as well as a +6dB Boost switch that is applied before the tube preamp section for even more gain. The built-in overdrive circuit has an overdrive control, a Tone control, and a Level control. The circuit is placed in front of the 12AX7 preamp circuit. The head also features two foot-switchable functions, one that turns on the Tube Screamer circuit and the other that turns on the +6dB boost circuit. The footswitch however is NOT included and sold separately. The IFS2G footswitch is the model number used for this amp. The TSA112C speaker cabinet comes with a single Celestion Seventy 80 12 inch guitar speaker. It’s design is based upon the Classic Lead but includes solid bass, plenty of midrange and pleasing upper frequencies. The speaker can handle 80 watts and should last for years. You can also plug the amp in to many other speaker cabinets with the same ohm rating. TSA15H Amp Head Features:
