Sennheiser E602 Dynamic Kick Mic |

The E602 is a kick drum mic that can be used in professional recording studios and for live sound reinforcement. It's especially designed for the kick drum but can just as easily be used for any other low frequency instrument such as a bass guitar or tuba. It has as a frequency response of 20 Hz to 16kHz. The Cardioid pickup pattern works excellent inside kick drums or on bass speaker cabinets. It rejects sounds from the sides and rear and is much more sensitive to sounds coming directly into the mic. It has a front to back rejection of 20dB at 1kHz (basically testing at the opposite end of the mic 180 degrees). This mic is somewhat lightweight that uses a large diaphragm capsule that can handle high SPL with a fast transient response. This mic has a filter circuit inside the mic that adjusts the frequency response. It has a dip in the mid range 150Hz to 750Hz while there is a boost in the low frequencies up to about 150Hz. This gives the mic a better sound for kick drums and bass guitars etc.... without you having to re-eq. It can handle SPL's in excess of 150dB while still being able to have a fast response time. The mic is made with road proof materials that allow it to be taken on the road and put up with the abuse. It includes an advanced shock-mount that's made to reduce and minimize the thud and thumps that come from being attached to a mic stand. Frequency-independent cardioid pattern ensures high output before feedback and effective isolation. Now includes a 10-year warranty! Other Kick Drum Mics: AKG D-112, Shure Beta 52, Audio-Technica AE2500 I'm a fan of the AKG D-112 but find this mic very suitable for kick drums. It sounds best placed near the front side of the kick drum or about 3 inches inside the kick drum microphone hole (if there is a front kick drum head). As noted the mic has an EQ built into it and I think this will a little getting used to especially if you use the d112 a lot. Features
