Yamaha 01V Digital Mixer

Yamaha 01V Digital Mixer

The Yamaha 01V is a 24-channel digital mixer for recording or live applications. It features 6 mix busses, 6 Aux Sends, and 2 stereo FX returns. The mixer can be rackmounted or used on the table top. It can be operated at 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz sample rate. The 01V is a 24-channel, fully digital mixer with 6 mix busses, 2 stereo effects returns, and 6 aux sends. It offers snapshot storage, instant reset, motorized faders, onboard dynamics, parametric EQ, and digital effects.

The 01V is Yamaha's most popular digital mixer. It is fully programmable (Automation) and offers a wide array of mixing and signal routing options. The AD (Analog to Digital) and DA (Digital to Analog) converters on the stereo outputs are 20-bit (8x oversampling) and offer a clean and transparent sound with 105dB dynamic range. There are also 18-bit converters on the Omni and monitor outputs. The mixer operates from 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz sample rate. Each can has its own solo, pan, and EQ controls.

You can view your changes on the 320 x 80 LCD graphic displays. This LCD display shows all of the current real-time responses from the mixer as well as editing parameters. The EQ and effects are processed using Yamaha's own 32-bit Digital Signal Processor for uncompromised sonic quality. The EQ's actually run at 44-bits resolution so round off error are almost completely non-existent.

The 24 input channels are broken down into 16 XLR inputs with high-quality preamps and +48V phantom power plus 8 optional channels of ADAT, TDIF (Tascam), or AES/EBU digital audio formats. You can add these optional expansion cards by inserting them into the back of the 01V. There are also 4 assignable analog outputs that can be used for the stereo mains and control room sends or whatever you need. You can add 4 additional analog outputs. Also Yamaha has included SPDIF digital outputs, both coaxial and XLR for connecting to other digital audio equipment.

A really cool thing about this mixer is its expandability. Using the Yamaha 01V LINK you can actually link together six 01Vs together and create a 48-channel mixer. It also includes the ability to control external MIDI gear such as the Yamaha DS2416 digital mixing sound card as well as many other processors.

There are 22 compressors/limiters built-into the 01v. There's one for each input (16 XLR), 4 aux sends, and the stereo main output channel. They can be configured as an expander, gate, ducker or compander. We couldn't forget to mention the two digital effect engines built-in to the mixer. They have the same algorithms as the Yamaha Rev500 processors. You get 42 preset effects that include reverb, delay, echo, chorus, flange, pitch shift and many other effects. There's even a guitar amp simulator.
