The JOEMEEK compressor is the first device commercially available to have been designed purely as an effects compressor. Its purpose is to change the way the ear perceives the sound; its action changes the clarity, balance and even rhythmic feel of music. They have been experimenting since the early 1960's when they came up with a way of enhancing the tape bend effects of compression which back then was very popular. JoeMeek products have been on many hit records and are considered to be a vital component in many top sound engineers equipment lists. The consensus from these famous studios, producers and engineers is that the sound of Joemeek Compressors is right, and really does recreate the warmth and power of the much sought after 'Vintage' equipment without the side effects and the cost.

Joemeek SC2 Stereo Compressor
The Joemeek SC2 is a stereo compressor and limiter. It is made for use in professional and home studios and are very simple to use. It provides both limiting and compression with a very musical sound. Technically a limiter stops the output of the sound from going beyond a certain point. While a compressor reduces the amount of variation between the softess and loudest parts of a sound. This reduces the dynamic range and hence the term "Leveling". The SC2 is more of a vintage sounding compressor/limter. It isn't meant to be an exact scientific compressor. It will make your vocals or percussion stand out and be much more present in the mix. It does this by not being a perfect compressor. It reacts to changes in sound in a way that is pleasing to the human ear. The device doesn't respond like most VCA type compressors that are linear and flat sounding.
Joemeek ThreeQ Studio Channel
The Joemeek ThreeQ is a monophonic Microphone/Line preamp, Compressor, and EQ in a half rackmount space. This is what is called a "Channel" in that it does all the functions that are found in the better mixing consoles. The Mic Preamp has phantom power and up to +60dB of gain. The Optical compressor can really thicken up a vocal track (or guitar) and the EQ is extremely powerful and useful. This is great for smaller studios that want a big and clean sound without the cost of higher priced mixers.
